Are you ready for spring yet? I know we are! But a great question to ask yourself is: Is your car ready? The harsh Michigan winters can take a toll on your vehicle. As it gets warmer outside, it is important to ensure that your car is in top driving condition. There are several steps you can take to give your car the care and attention it deserves as you head out into the sunshine. Here are some ways you can help your car recuperate from winter and get ready for springtime.

Check your Undercarriage

Your car likely has been exposed to salt and other grime that can accumulate underneath your car. Unfortunately, these things can lead to erosion even on newer cars. You will want perform a thorough undercarriage cleaning, whether it is at a car wash or at home using your garden hose. Just make sure the water spray has enough pressure to get rid of all those nasty winter leftovers.

Give it a Nice Cleaning

Giving your car a full interior/exterior cleaning is a great way to bring in the new season. It is especially important at this time of year since winter is such a messy season. A great way to accomplish this clean is by visiting your local dealer’s Reconditioning Department. Ours is open 6 days a week and is happy to assist you in this need. You can call them at 989.922.5518 to schedule an appointment. You can also visit the Reconditioning Department Website by clicking here to get the complete list of services.

Check your Tires

Whether you have all-weather tires or winter tires, it is time to have them checked out or changed. Make sure to check pressure levels, tread levels, and the like before heading out on those roads. It is vital that your tires are in tip-top shape to keep your vehicle safe and free from harm.

Check your Brakes

With the same respect, it is time to check your brakes. Road salt can impact the condition of your brakes and can corrode metal and your brake pads rely on clean, properly lubricated metal frames to work properly. Save a step and have them checked out when you check out your tires.

Get an Alignment

Winter weather in Michigan usually leaves potholes on the roads. And as you probably know, potholes can take their toll on your car. Make sure to take your car in to have its alignment checked and have your tires rotated, if you aren’t changing them.

Replace your Wiper Blades

Your windshield wipers get a workout making sure your view is clear of snow and sleet during the winter. Often it is a good idea to replace them every spring, and possibly fall, to make sure you have an unobstructed view of the road.

By performing a few checkups on your car this spring, and getting it nice and clean, your car will continue to perform well for you throughout the fair weathered season!
