We get a lot of questions from our customers about the vehicles they purchase, what happens after purchase, and so on. Here is one that we get quite often:
Do I need to take my car to the dealership I purchased it from for service?
Short Answer: No.
But… There are a lot of benefits for taking your vehicle to the dealership for service.
First of all, you will get mechanics who know your vehicle and work mainly on your type of vehicle. This can be a huge advantage since each car is different, and to have a mechanic that knows your vehicle inside and out will vastly improve performance of the vehicle. Plus, this is a way to take care of your vehicle. You know you are going to get the work of an expert.
Also, since many vehicles have warranties either already included or available to purchase, many of the regular maintenance that would be performed on your vehicle would be cheaper at the dealership. The parts are usually in stock and available, so the maintenance is performed quickly and efficiently.
However, the most important thing, whether you take it to an independent mechanic or the dealership, is to be comfortable with who is working on your vehicle. You want to create a relationship with your mechanic, have confidence that they can get the job done properly, and treat you right.
