With the 2017 Subaru Impreza, Subaru has once again solidified the core of its vehicle line. An icon in its own right, the Impreza can be used for whatever you need, whether it is an affordable family car or a fun trip down the highway.

The new Impreza is the first model that Subaru is using the new global modular platform. What this means is that the architecture that goes into this vehicle will be shared between their other vehicles as well, including the Forester and the Outback. This is a unique way of doing it, since consumers will get an entry-priced sedan with the structure of a far more expensive vehicle. This translates well into its ride quality, performance, and comfort.

The new 2017 Subaru Impreza is still going to be available in 4-door and 5-door configurations, allowing for the versatility that everyone has grown to love.  Due to the switch to the global platform, the Impreza will boast a longer wheelbase and a wider cabin. This contributes to ride comfort by suppressing noise, vibration, and harshness. The engine is a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that now makes 152 horsepower, which is a slight improvement on the last design. It will also be available with the company’s suite of safety equipment, called EyeSight, which includes features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic pre-collision braking. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also available. A relatively uncommon feature is the reverse automatic braking system. This system can apply brakes if something is detected behind the vehicle while backing up.

Here are some amazing new features of the 2017 Subaru Impreza, as well as what it means for the vehicle in the future, according to Dominick Infante, the national manager of product communications for Subaru of the Americas.

  • Stiffness – A stiff chassis means that a suspension has been created that combines compliance with body control, which enhances road-going comfort and at-the-limit performance. Combine that with a new interpretation of the “Sport” trim level that has borrowed aspects from the WRX, and this car is both affordable and fun.
  • Steering – This vehicle has a much quicker steering ratio that was copied from the BRZ. This creates a snappier response time.
  • Body roll – The new suspension tune and lower center of gravity contributes to an impressive 50 percent less body roll than the previous models.
  • Direct injection – The new Impreza gets a lighter, more compact direct injection system developed within Subaru that helps achieve the lower center of gravity.
  • Technology – The Impreza will feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as a standard features, as well as NFC connectivity, in its new infotainment system. Rear cameras will also be standard.

There is an Impreza trim level for everyone! The new Impreza 2.0i Sport model brings the driver memories of driving a WRX. Other trim levels include the 2.0i base, Premium, and Limited. The Limited trim level also comes with a six-way power driver’s seat, which is new in the Impreza.

All of these features add up to a fantastic vehicle that is affordable and fun. As soon as you get behind the wheel of this one, you will be wondering how you went so long without it. Check out our inventory of Imprezas today!
