The new entry into the muscle car hall-of-fame has arrived!

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat offers more power and more speed than any muscle car before it. Subtlety is not an option for the new addition to the modern arms car race.

This new Challenger boasts an incredible 707-horsepower V-8 engine that pumps out 650 lb-ft of torque to make it the most powerful muscle car ever built. All this power equals a 10.8 second quarter mile, the fasted ever recorded by a muscle car.

They based the engine on the 6.4-liter Apache V8, though they needed to change about 91 percent of it in order to achieve the specifications required for the new Hellcat. Plus, it has the supercharged HEMI. It is so powerful that Dodge is supplying two keys: a black one for everyday driving that puts out around 500-horsepower, and a red key that unlocks the true nature of the beast.

In addition, the Hellcat can come with two different transmission packages: the 6-speed manual or the 8-speed automatic. Plus you can set your Hellcat to over 125 potential driving configurations, including basic Track, Sport, and Street modes. This leads into the gripping of the brakes. The brakes are the biggest outfitted to any Chrysler vehicle ever, including the mighty Viper, measuring 15.4 inches (front) and 13.8 inches (rear) in diameter. This allows the Hellcat to grip strong and hard, helping with corners.

With all the changes under the hood, not much has changed on the outside. If you don’t look closely enough, you would often mistake it with its less powerful brothers. The Hellcat has small “Supercharged” badges on the exterior. But one of the coolest cosmetic features is the missing inner headlight on the driver’s side. This is because it now acts as an air intake for the IHI-supplied, twin-scroll supercharger that sits on top of the engine. Also, it has a lower front air intake and much more aggressive front splitter.

Inside, you will find all the comforts of modernity while still paying homage to the classic Challengers of the past. It gives the feeling of a cockpit, ready to take your vehicle on the drive of a lifetime. The seats offer support rims that keep you in place as you make the corners. You feel entirely in control with its 8.4 inch touch screen panel, making sure the settings match your personal preferences.

And here comes the part where most people cringe. While it was rumored for a while to begin at $80,000 and climbing up from there, the official numbers came out and… It starts at $59,999! That is a whole lot of vehicle for a fraction of the price!

In the end, you get an incredibly powerful muscle car that handles well on the street, track, or if you are just having fun in the sport mode. The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat combines form, function, and “fast” to make a vehicle with some real attitude. This Challenger Hellcat has burned its way into the race, leaving everyone following its beautiful white plume of smoke.
