fall driving

Fall is just around the corner, which means it is the perfect time to be sure your vehicle is prepared for slippery roads and falling leaves.  No matter what make or model your vehicle is, Thelen Auto Group in Bay City, Michigan, has an amazing staff of service technicians that can work on your car, truck, or SUV!  We have an easy service appointment scheduler which you can access here – once you fill it out, one of our staff will contact you within 48 hours to confirm or change your requested date and time.  There are some parts of your vehicle that should be checked out before autumn officially hits.  Here is a look at just some of the areas you should have inspected and repaired during your next service appointment.

  • Check hoses and belts.  Making sure there is no fraying and no cracking in your lines or hoses for the chance of any fluid leaks or engine belts snapping.  During the summer these areas of your car can overheat, causing issues such as glazing.
  • Check your tires.  Your tires are a very important part of your vehicle – especially when the weather changes and you need traction on the road.  Rotating the tires, checking their air inflation levels, and checking the tread are all essential.
  • Check the battery.  Check for charge and corrosion.  If the battery is having issues, replacing it is key!
  • Check the windshield wipers.  There is nothing worse than trying to get rain and snow wiped from your windshield with deteriorating wipers.  They can smear the wetness around and make it impossible to see.  Thankfully these are easy to replace and inexpensive too.
  • Keep up with oil changes!  Keeping your vehicle maintained on a regular maintenance schedule with oil changes is critical for your car’s health and longevity.  If your oil is low or dirty, it can make your engine work harder and less effectively.
  • Make sure your heat works.  Checking if the heat kicks on and your defrosters are working can help clear a foggy or frosted windshield easily. It is better to find out that this works correctly before the cold weather hits!
