With summer’s heat comes potential problems for your vehicle.  Many believe that wintertime causes more issues with parts of your car, but in truth summer can be equally damaging.  It is so important to regularly bring your vehicle in for a full multi-point inspection, especially after each season.  This will help ensure vehicle dependability and your safety while driving.  In addition, you should monitor your vehicle’s health to be sure it stays in excellent operating condition.

First and foremost, your engine can overheat more easily during the summer than the winter due to the hot weather.  It is important to keep an eye on the fluid levels in the engine because if they become too low and overheating begins, it can cause serious damage.  There is also an issue that you could experience called vaporized fuel leaks.  As the temperature rises, it can vaporize the fuel sitting in your gas tank.  This can cause pressure to rise and might even set off your check engine light, alerting you to a potential problem.

You have probably used your windshield wiper blades plenty during the wintertime and might think there is no reason to replace them during the hottest, dryer part of the year.  However, summer often brings sudden rainstorms.  If you have battered older windshield wipers, it can cause micro scratching to your windshield and further damage later.  They also might not effectively clean water and dirt from your windshield creating reduced visibility.  Belts are another part of your vehicle that can be a concern during the hot summer.  Summer heat can cause belt breakage, cracking, and tearing.

Lastly, your vehicle’s battery works hard to keep everything cooled down while you are driving.  It is important to look at the plastic covering over the battery to see if there is any obstruction that could inhibit air flow.  If you are concerned about if your battery can handle cooling your vehicle down correctly, replacing it is a good option.
